# Crop Video: Online Video Cropper

Cut away unwanted edges or reframe to 9:16, 1:1, 4:5, or 16:9 on the canvas.

## How it works

1. Add your MP4, MOV, or WebM clip and choose Any shape or a ratio like 9:16, 1:1, 4:5, or 16:9.
2. Press Crop video to open the editor, then drag the crop handles on the canvas to frame your subject.
3. Play back the preview and press Export to download the cropped MP4.

## Framing out distractions without losing proportions

Audo’s online video cropper crops MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, and AVI files up to 2 GB in your browser, with the first 10 minutes free, 10 times a day, and no sign-up. Whether you need to crop an MP4 screen recording down to a single application window or tighten a wide camera shot around one presenter, you see the exact crop rectangle live on the canvas before exporting.

Because the editor holds your project non-destructively in the browser, you can adjust the crop handles, combine the crop with trims or auto captions on the same timeline, and export a single H.264 MP4 without encoding the picture twice.

Tool: Crop video (`crop_video`). Price: 1 credit a minute — $0.01/min ($0.60/hr), with no subscription — of input for whole files, charged only when a job succeeds.

## Free API

```bash
curl -F file=@clip.mp4 https://audo.ai/api/try/crop-video -D response.headers -o response.body
```

Read response.headers and response.body before naming media. Handle 202, 200 JSON and errors with the complete response client at https://audo.ai/docs/api?utm_source=markdown&utm_medium=agent#responses.

Free for the first 10 minutes of each file, 10 times a day per person, with no key or account. Uploads up to 10 GB, 2 at once from one address. The response is the result itself; a job that runs longer than about 30 seconds returns 202 with a link to check on it. With an API key (`-H "Authorization: Bearer $AUDO_API_KEY"`), omitting free runs the whole file with credits if the balance covers it, otherwise the free portion if quota remains. Set free=true to prohibit spending; for paid whole files use free=false with an approved positive max_credits. A free result cut short comes with finishUrl (and the Audo-Finish-Url header when the response is the file itself): give it to the person, who pays there (from $5, no sign-up), and the whole file runs; keep checking the status link, whose finishedBy names the whole-file job and its own status link. ## Options

Form fields with the same names as the MCP tool's inputs:

- `rect`: Crop before rotation: x,y,w,h are fractions of the displayed picture, from 0 to 1; x+w and y+h cannot exceed 1.
- `rotate`: Clockwise rotation in degrees after cropping. Default 0.
- `flip_horizontal`: Flip left to right after rotation.
- `flip_vertical`: Flip top to bottom after rotation.

## Languages

Any language: it works on the sound, not the words.

## From an assistant (MCP)

Add https://audo.ai/mcp and sign in (setup for each assistant: https://audo.ai/setup.md). The tool is `crop_video`:

> Crops a normalized rectangle from a video, then rotates it by 0, 90, 180, or 270 degrees and optionally flips it horizontally or vertically. Sound stays in sync. It costs 1 credit a minute of input, charged only if the job succeeds. Returns the result with download links, or job_id for get_job if it takes longer.

Example: "Use Audo to crop video from clip.mp4."

## Questions

**How do I crop a video online?** Add your video at the top of the page, pick Any shape for a freeform rectangle or a preset aspect ratio (9:16, 1:1, 4:5, or 16:9), and press Crop video. In the editor, drag the corners and edges of the crop box directly over your video, play it back to verify the framing, and press Export to download the MP4.

**What does a video cropper remove compared with trimming?** Cropping removes pixels around the outer edges of the picture—such as browser tabs on a screen recording, boom mics, or a messy background—while keeping the full duration of the clip. To cut seconds off the start, middle, or end of a recording, use Trim video instead.

**Can I crop an MP4 to 9:16, 1:1, or 4:5 for social media?** Yes. Select 9:16 for Shorts, Reels, and TikTok, 1:1 for square posts, 4:5 for portrait feeds, or 16:9 for widescreen. Locking a ratio keeps the crop box at those exact proportions while you drag it over the person or product you want to keep.

**Will cropping stretch faces or change the sound?** No. The area inside your crop box keeps its natural proportions without stretching or squishing, and your audio track stays in sync from start to finish. Silent clips and screen recordings without audio work the same way.

**Should I use Crop video or Resize video?** Use Crop video when you want to cut away part of the image and zoom in on a region. Use Resize video when you want to keep the entire original picture visible inside a new aspect ratio with blurred or colored padding around the edges, or Horizontal to vertical video when the camera should follow an active speaker automatically.

**Can I rotate or flip a video when cropping via the API?** Yes. When calling the crop_video tool through the REST API, CLI, or an AI assistant, you can pass a normalized crop rectangle along with a 90, 180, or 270 degree clockwise rotation and horizontal or vertical flips.

**Is it free?** Yes. Audo processes the first 10 minutes free, 10 times a day, without an account. The whole file costs $0.01 a minute ($0.60 an hour), charged only on success. No subscription. See pricing.
