# MOV to MP4 Converter: Convert Video to MP4

Convert MOV, MKV, WebM, and iPhone recordings to MP4 videos ready to share.

## How it works

1. Add your MOV, MKV, WebM, or AVI video file.
2. Choose MP4 (with H.264 or H.265) and the picture quality you want.
3. Convert, preview the video, and download your MP4.

## Why converting MOV, MKV, and WebM to MP4 solves playback issues

Audo’s MOV to MP4 converter and online video converter turns MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI, and MP4 recordings up to 2 GB into compatible MP4, MOV, or WebM files without an account, with the first 10 minutes free, 10 times a day, and no sign-up. Apple devices record QuickTime MOV files by default, OBS often saves multi-track MKV recordings, and browser recorders export WebM—formats that Windows apps, Android phones, and upload forms frequently refuse.

By re-packaging and encoding the picture into an H.264 or H.265 MP4 with AAC sound, Audo produces a single universal video file that plays everywhere. If your converted MP4 is still too large for an email or chat attachment, run it through Video compressor next.

Tool: Convert video (`convert_video`). Price: 1 credit a minute — $0.01/min ($0.60/hr), with no subscription — of input for whole files, charged only when a job succeeds.

## Free API

```bash
curl -F file=@clip.mp4 https://audo.ai/api/try/mov-to-mp4 -D response.headers -o response.body
```

Read response.headers and response.body before naming media. Handle 202, 200 JSON and errors with the complete response client at https://audo.ai/docs/api?utm_source=markdown&utm_medium=agent#responses.

Free for the first 10 minutes of each file, 10 times a day per person, with no key or account. Uploads up to 10 GB, 2 at once from one address. The response is the result itself; a job that runs longer than about 30 seconds returns 202 with a link to check on it. With an API key (`-H "Authorization: Bearer $AUDO_API_KEY"`), omitting free runs the whole file with credits if the balance covers it, otherwise the free portion if quota remains. Set free=true to prohibit spending; for paid whole files use free=false with an approved positive max_credits. A free result cut short comes with finishUrl (and the Audo-Finish-Url header when the response is the file itself): give it to the person, who pays there (from $5, no sign-up), and the whole file runs; keep checking the status link, whose finishedBy names the whole-file job and its own status link. ## Options

Form fields with the same names as the MCP tool's inputs:

- `container`: Output container. Default mp4.
- `codec`: Picture codec: h264 or h265 for MP4/MOV, vp9 for WebM. Default h264 for MP4/MOV, vp9 for WebM.
- `quality`: Picture quality, 0 to 51: lower keeps more detail and uses more bytes. Default 23.

## Languages

Any language: it works on the sound, not the words.

## From an assistant (MCP)

Add https://audo.ai/mcp and sign in (setup for each assistant: https://audo.ai/setup.md). The tool is `convert_video`:

> Converts any video to MP4, MOV, or WebM, with H.264, H.265, or VP9, a quality setting, and compatible audio copied when possible. It costs 1 credit a minute of input, charged only if the job succeeds. Returns the result with download links, or job_id for get_job if it takes longer.

Example: "Use Audo to convert video from clip.mp4."

## Questions

**How do I convert MOV to MP4 on iPhone, Mac, or Windows?** Add your iPhone or camera .mov recording above, leave the output format set to MP4, and press Convert video. Audo encodes a new H.264 MP4 with AAC audio right in your browser so you can download and share it on any device while keeping your original MOV file untouched.

**Can I also use this as an MKV to MP4 or WebM to MP4 video converter?** Yes. Beyond MOV to MP4, you can upload MKV, WebM, AVI, or MP4 recordings and convert them to MP4, MOV, or WebM. Screen recordings saved as MKV in OBS or WebM in a browser convert cleanly to H.264 MP4 files that open in video editors, slides, and messaging apps.

**Will the converted MP4 work on Windows, Android, and social platforms?** Yes. MP4 with H.264 video and AAC sound is the most widely accepted format across Windows, Android, iPhone, web browsers, PowerPoint, Discord, and social uploads. H.265 (HEVC) can save space at similar visual quality, though H.264 is the safest choice when you do not know which player the recipient uses.

**Does renaming .mov to .mp4 convert my recording?** No. Changing a filename from .mov to .mp4 only changes its label without converting the video or audio tracks inside, which often leaves a file that Windows or web uploaders still reject. Audo writes a genuine MP4 container and encodes a compatible video stream.

**What does the quality number mean?** Lower CRF numbers retain more picture detail and produce larger downloads, while higher numbers reduce file size. The default setting balances sharp text and motion with a practical file size for sharing a phone recording or screen capture.

**Is the original soundtrack kept when I convert video to MP4?** Compatible AAC or MP3 sound is copied directly without an extra audio re-encode. When the source uses PCM, Opus, or another audio codec that standard MP4 players do not expect, Audo converts the soundtrack to AAC while keeping lip sync locked to the picture.

**Is it free?** Yes. Audo processes the first 10 minutes free, 10 times a day, without an account. The whole file costs $0.01 a minute ($0.60 an hour), charged only on success. No subscription. See pricing.
