# Trim Video: Online Video Trimmer and Video Cutter

Cut the beginning, end, or middle out of an MP4 or MOV on the timeline.

## How it works

1. Add your MP4, MOV, or WebM video to open it on the editor timeline.
2. Drag the clip edges or split on the timeline—or switch to Transcript to cut by spoken words.
3. Preview the cut transitions and press Export to download your trimmed MP4.

## Frame-accurate video cutting on the timeline or by transcript

Audo’s online video trimmer and video cutter edits MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, and AVI recordings up to 2 GB in your browser, with the first 5 minutes free, 10 times a day, and no sign-up. Dropping a clip onto this page opens it straight in the editor’s Cut workspace, where you can trim an MP4 visually against the waveform and video preview.

Beyond dragging handles at the start and end of a recording, you can split out multiple mistakes in the middle, automatically shorten awkward pauses with Remove silence, or cut ums and uhs with Remove filler words before exporting a single finished MP4.

Tool: Cut (`cut_audio`). The same tool's other pages: https://audo.ai/audio-cutter.md. Price: 1 credit a minute — $0.01/min ($0.60/hr), with no subscription — of input for whole files, charged only when a job succeeds.

## Free API

```bash
curl -F file=@clip.mp4 -F 'ranges=[[1, 3.04]]' -F mode=keep -F crossfade_ms=0 https://audo.ai/api/try/cut -D response.headers -o response.body
```

Read response.headers and response.body before naming media. Handle 202, 200 JSON and errors with the complete response client at https://audo.ai/docs/api?utm_source=markdown&utm_medium=agent#responses.

Free for the first hour of each file, 10 times a day per person, with no key or account. Uploads up to 10 GB, 2 at once from one address. The response is the result itself; a job that runs longer than about 30 seconds returns 202 with a link to check on it. With an API key (`-H "Authorization: Bearer $AUDO_API_KEY"`), omitting free runs the whole file with credits if the balance covers it, otherwise the free portion if quota remains. Set free=true to prohibit spending; for paid whole files use free=false with an approved positive max_credits. A free result cut short comes with finishUrl (and the Audo-Finish-Url header when the response is the file itself): give it to the person, who pays there (from $5, no sign-up), and the whole file runs; keep checking the status link, whose finishedBy names the whole-file job and its own status link. ## Options

Form fields with the same names as the MCP tool's inputs:

- `ranges`: Time ranges as [start, end] pairs in seconds, such as [[0, 12.5], [300, 312]]. 1 to 5,000 ranges.
- `mode`: remove deletes the ranges; keep keeps only the ranges. Default remove.
- `output`: joined makes one file; separate makes one file per range. Default joined.
- `crossfade_ms`: A crossfade at each cut, in milliseconds (0 to 200), such as 20. Default 20.

## Languages

Any language: it works on the sound, not the words.

## From an assistant (MCP)

Add https://audo.ai/mcp and sign in (setup for each assistant: https://audo.ai/setup.md). The tool is `cut_audio`:

> Removes or keeps time ranges in an audio or video file, as one file or one file per range. Use it to trim, remove sections, or split. To cut by words, get their times from get_transcript first. It costs 1 credit a minute of input, charged only if the job succeeds. Returns the result, which maps old times to new ones, or job_id for get_job if it takes longer.

Example: "Use Audo to trim video from clip.mp4."

## Questions

**How do I trim the beginning and end of a video online?** Drop your video onto the page to open it directly on the Cut tool in Audo’s editor. Drag the start or end handle of the clip inward on the timeline—or position the playhead and split—to trim away camera setup at the beginning or dead air at the end, then press Export to save the MP4.

**Can I cut a mistake out of the middle of an MP4?** Yes. Move the playhead to the start and end of the unwanted section on the timeline (or select the spoken words in Transcript mode) to cut that section out. The remaining parts join together into one continuous video, and you can undo or restore any cut before exporting.

**Can I trim a video by deleting words in a transcript?** Yes. Switch from Timeline to Transcript in the editor to transcribe the speech in your video, then highlight and delete sentences, false starts, filler words, or long silences just like editing a document.

**Are video cuts frame-accurate?** Yes. When you export, Audo snaps cuts to the exact video frame boundary and encodes a clean H.264 MP4 rather than jumping to the nearest keyframe seconds away, so your edit lands right where you placed it.

**Does trimming a video keep the audio in sync?** Picture and soundtrack are cut to the same timestamps and exported together with a smooth audio transition at each splice, keeping voices and lip sync aligned.

**What is the difference between a video trimmer and a video cropper?** A video trimmer (or video cutter) shortens the duration of a recording by removing seconds from the timeline. A video cropper removes pixels around the outer edges of the picture frame; if you want to reframe the image area, open Crop video.

**Is it free?** Yes. Audo processes the first hour free, 10 times a day, without an account. The whole file costs $0.01 a minute ($0.60 an hour), charged only on success. No subscription. See pricing.
