From recording to quotes

Audo transcribes interviews from audio (WAV, MP3, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG, Opus, WebM, AIFF) and video (MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI) in 60 languages, labels up to 8 speakers, and takes recordings up to 10 hours long signed in, with the first 2 minutes of each file free, 3 times a day, and no sign-up. You get the text in speaker turns, SRT and VTT captions, and the time of every word.

Journalists search the text for a line and check it by ear before quoting it. Researchers read through qualitative interviews and code them for themes. Podcasters turn an interview episode into captions and show notes.

For the clearest transcript, keep each person close to a microphone. If the recording is noisy, run it through Remove noise or Audio enhancer first. For the whole workflow, from choosing verbatim to exporting, see How to transcribe an interview.

Questions

Is there a free way to transcribe an interview?

Yes. Audo transcribes the first 2 minutes of each interview for free, 3 times a day, with no sign-up. Whole interviews are $0.02 a minute ($1.20 an hour), with no subscription — see pricing.

Can it tell the interviewer and the guest apart?

Yes. Audo labels each voice Speaker 1, Speaker 2, and so on, up to 8 people, in the order they first speak. It doesn't guess names, so replace each label with a name wherever you use the text.

How long can the interview be?

Without an account, files up to 100 MB work. Signed in, up to 10 GB and 10 hours. A 2-minute recording is usually ready in under 10 seconds. Recent hour-long recordings came back in under 2 minutes. A one-hour interview costs $1.20.

Can I transcribe a Zoom, Teams, or phone interview?

Yes, from the recording file your app saved: for Zoom, that's an MP4 video or an M4A with only the sound. Audo takes files, not links. Transcript from a Zoom recording shows where Zoom keeps them.

Can I get a verbatim transcript, or a clean one?

Both. Keep filler words is on, so um and uh stay in and the text is word for word. Switch it off for a clean read, where quotes flow better.

How do I check a quote before I publish it?

Every sentence in the result shows its time. Press a sentence to hear the recording from that moment, and compare it with the text.

Can ChatGPT or Claude transcribe an interview?

Yes, with Audo added to it. Attach the recording in the chat and ask for a transcript with speaker labels, and the text comes back from Audo. Claude works the same way. Add Audo to your assistant once, and it's there in every chat.

What happens to my files?

They stay private. Files are deleted after 24 hours, and free results after 1 hour.
