Transcript
- Speaker 1
Welcome back to the show! So, you recorded your whole first album in your kitchen?
- Speaker 2
I did, yeah. Honestly, the kitchen had the best sound in the flat.
- Speaker 1
Wait, really? Better than a studio?
- Speaker 2
Well, it was free. We hung blankets over the windows, waited for the street to go quiet, and pressed record.
- Speaker 1
I love that.

Transcripts, show notes, and episode captions
Audo's podcast transcription tool turns audio (WAV, MP3, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG, Opus, WebM, AIFF) and video (MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI) episode files into text and captions, up to 100 MB without an account and up to 10 GB and 10 hours signed in, with the first 2 minutes of each episode free, 3 times a day, and no sign-up. A 2-minute recording is usually ready in under 10 seconds.
Interview and co-hosted episodes come back organized by voice, with up to 8 speakers labeled in the order they first talk. Use the plain text (TXT) to draft show notes, pull quotes, or turn an episode into a blog post. Upload the VTT or SRT captions to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube so listeners can read along or search inside the show, and use the word-by-word timings whenever you cut by text.
By default, Keep filler words leaves um and uh in place so the transcript reflects every word spoken; switch it off when you want polished copy for publishing. When the episode recording itself needs tightening or evening out before release, send it to Remove filler words to cut hesitations from the sound or Audio leveler to balance a quiet guest against the host.
Questions
Is there a free podcast transcript generator?
Yes. Audo's podcast transcript generator is free for the first 2 minutes of each episode, 3 times a day, with no sign-up. Full episodes run $0.02 a minute ($1.20 an hour), with no subscription — see pricing.
Can I transcribe a podcast from a Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or YouTube link?
No. Audo takes your audio or video episode file directly, not a web link from Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or YouTube. Upload the MP3, WAV, M4A, or MP4 you exported from your editor or downloaded from your podcast host.
Does it separate the host and guests?
Yes. Audo recognizes up to 8 voices and labels them Speaker 1, Speaker 2, and so on, in the order they first speak. In interview and co-hosted shows, each host and guest gets their own turns in the text and VTT captions.
What files do I get for show notes and podcast apps?
You get four downloads: plain text (TXT) divided into speaker turns for show notes and blog posts, SRT and VTT captions for video podcasts and podcast apps such as Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube, and word-by-word timings with the start and end of every word.
Does it keep or remove um and uh?
By default, Keep filler words is on so um and uh stay in and the transcript matches what was said. Switch off Keep filler words for a clean read in show notes, or send the episode to Remove filler words or Audio leveler to clean the audio itself.
Which languages does podcast transcription support?
Audo works in 60 languages and detects the spoken language automatically, or you can pick the language from the list before starting.
Can ChatGPT or Claude transcribe a podcast episode?
Yes, once Audo is connected to your assistant. Send the episode file in the chat and ask to transcribe the podcast: Audo returns the full transcript with speaker labels and captions. Add Audo to your assistant once, and it works in every conversation.
How fast does Audo transcribe a podcast, and how long can an episode be?
A 2-minute recording is usually ready in under 10 seconds. Without an account you can upload up to 100 MB; signed in, episode files can be up to 10 GB and 10 hours long.
