Trim, remove, or keep

Audo's audio trimmer and MP3 cutter works on audio (WAV, MP3, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG, Opus, WebM, AIFF) and video (MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI) up to 100 MB without an account, free for the first hour of each file, 10 times a day, with no sign-up. A 4-minute file is usually ready in about 8 seconds, and even an hour-long one in about 14.

Trim: mark the silence or chatter at the start and the end, and cut them out. Remove: mark a cough, a mistake, or an ad break in the middle. Keep: mark only what you want, such as a quote or a chorus, and choose Keep only them. Press Mark a part here while it plays, then drag the part's edges on the waveform or type its times.

For long pauses, Remove silence finds them for you, and Remove filler words cuts the ums. Merge audio joins files one after another, and Transcribe gives the time of every word, to cut by what was said. Audo takes files, not links: to trim your own YouTube video, download it from YouTube Studio first.

Questions

Is there a free MP3 cutter?

Yes. Audo's MP3 cutter is free for the first hour of each file, 10 times a day, with no sign-up. That covers a whole song. Trimming longer recordings is $0.01 a minute ($0.60 an hour) with no subscription — see pricing.

Can I trim an MP3 on my iPhone or Android?

Yes. Open this page in your phone's browser, add the file, mark the part, and download it. It works the same on Windows and on a Mac, with nothing to install.

How do I make a ringtone from a song?

Play the song, mark the part you want, choose Keep only them, and download it. An MP3 comes back as an MP3. To land exactly on a beat, type the start and end times, to the hundredth of a second.

How do I cut a part out of the middle?

Mark it and choose Cut them out. Mark up to 100 parts to remove them all in one go, and what's left is joined back up.

Can I split a file into several clips?

Yes. Mark each clip, choose Keep only them, and under More options, pick A file for each part. A long recording comes back as separate clips, up to 100.

Will there be a click where I cut?

No. Each cut gets a short crossfade, 20 milliseconds, so the pieces meet smoothly.

Does trimming lower the quality?

WAV and FLAC stay lossless. An MP3 or M4A is saved again in its own format, at the quality it had. Other audio, such as AAC or OGG, comes back as WAV.

Can I trim the audio of a video?

Yes. Add an MP4, MOV, or other video, and the picture is cut along with the sound, at whole frames, so they stay in step. You get the same kind of video back.
