Where pauses drag

Audo's silence remover shortens the pauses in audio (WAV, MP3, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG, Opus, WebM, AIFF) and video (MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI), up to 100 MB without an account, free for the first hour of each file, 10 times a day, with no sign-up. The pauses in a 3-minute file are usually gone in about 6 seconds, and those in a 27-minute episode in about 26.

A lecturer turns to the board. You stop to think in a voice note. A screen recording waits for a page to load. Each pause is natural on its own, but together they make a recording drag, and listeners drift off. Finding them by hand means scrolling through the whole file.

Here every pause goes in one pass, and everything that's left plays as it did. On a video, each shortened pause becomes a jump cut, a cut that skips forward within the same shot. For um and uh rather than silence, use Remove filler words.

Questions

Is there a free silence remover?

Yes. Audo's silence remover is free for the first hour of each file, 10 times a day, with no sign-up. Longer episodes cost $0.01 a minute ($0.60 an hour), with no subscription: see pricing.

How do I remove awkward pauses or dead air from a podcast or video?

Add the audio or video file to Audo and press Remove silence. Shorten pauses longer than is set to 0.7 seconds by default (and adjusts from 0.3 to 5 seconds), and Keep of each pause under More options leaves a quarter of a second (from 0 to 1 second) so speech still breathes. On a video, picture and sound are cut together.

Will it cut my words?

No. It only shortens pauses, and leaves part of each one. It listens for your file's own background level, so it works on quiet and noisy recordings alike.

Can it remove silence from a video?

Yes. Sound and picture are cut together, so a talking-head video gets a jump cut at each shortened pause.

Does it remove dead air at the start and end?

Yes. Silence at the very start and end is shortened the same way as the pauses in between.

Does it remove um and uh?

No, only pauses. Remove filler words cuts um, uh, and repeated words. The result lists every pause this page shortened.

Can ChatGPT or Claude remove silence from audio or video?

Yes, with Audo added to it. Attach the recording or video and ask it to shorten the long pauses, and Audo cuts the dead air and returns the tighter file. Claude works the same way. Add Audo to your assistant once, and it's there in every chat.

What happens to my files?

They stay private. Files are deleted after 24 hours, and free results after 1 hour.
