How to Remove Background Noise in CapCut (and What to Do When Pro Blocks Export)

CapCut puts its noise reduction switch in a slightly different spot depending on whether you edit on a laptop, a phone, or in the browser. On CapCut Desktop (Mac and Windows), click the video or audio clip on your timeline, open the Audio tab in the top-right inspector, and check the box next to Reduce noise. Right underneath it you'll see Voice isolation and Enhance voice marked with a Pro diamond badge.

On CapCut Mobile (iOS and Android), tap the video clip on your timeline, tap Edit, and swipe the bottom toolbar to the right until you see Reduce noise (next to Enhance voice and Isolate voice). If you don't see Reduce noise on the video toolbar in your version of the mobile app, tap Extract audio first, select the green audio track that appears underneath your clip, and tap Reduce noise there. In CapCut Web, select the clip on the timeline, click Audio on the right sidebar, and turn on Noise reduction.

Don't judge the cleanup by looking at the timeline waveform alone. Put on headphones and play back a sentence where the speaker talks over the noise. As CapCut's own audio guide notes, heavy noise reduction can strip warmth out of a voice and leave it sounding robotic or underwater, and CapCut's basic Reduce noise toggle has no strength slider on most builds to dial the effect back.
